The shape-up — sometimes called a line-up or edge-up — is the quick maintenance service that keeps your fade, hairline, and beard sharp between full cuts. It's fast, it's precise, and it's how regulars stay looking like they just left the chair, even three weeks deep.
If you've ever felt like your cut "fell off" in the second week, the shape-up is your fix. Twenty minutes, a clean refresh, and you're good for another week or two before your next full cut.
What's included.
- Hairline detailing — sharp, clean edge across the front of the hairline.
- Temple corners — defined, square or rounded depending on your style.
- Sideburns — leveled, balanced, and trimmed to length.
- Neckline cleanup — clean nape line, blended where it needs to be.
- Beard line touch-up — cheekline and beard neck if you have facial hair (small additional charge for full beard work).
What it's not.
A shape-up isn't a full haircut. We don't re-fade, re-blend the top, or rework length. If your cut needs more than edge work, you want a full haircut or fade — not a shape-up. We'll be honest about which one you actually need when you walk in.
How often.
Most fade clients book a shape-up at the 7-10 day mark, then a full fade at 2-3 weeks. Some clients prefer two shape-ups between full cuts. Either rhythm works — we'll help you figure out what fits your hair growth and schedule.
Quick, not rushed.
A shape-up should take 15-20 minutes. We don't rush it — but it doesn't need an hour. It's the perfect lunch-break or before-work appointment. Call ahead to grab a slot and you'll be in and out clean.
